The days are getting longer and if you try really hard, you just might be able to feel a little bit of warmth in the air, too! Yes, spring is just around the corner, and just in time, too, because there’s no doubt that cabin fever is setting in.

If you’re looking for some fun things to do in the Minnesota area, here are three wonderful experiences that will allow you to get out, breathe in the fresh air, and take in the beauty of this magical season.

Cast a Reel

Known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes (actually, there are more than 11,800), there are plenty of opportunities for fishing in Minnesota. Whether you’re an avid angler or you’ve never cast a reel before, spring is the perfect time for Minnesotans to go fishing.

The ice is starting to thaw, which means that the fish are active and ready to bite on any bait that’s thrown their way. So, go ahead and grab a tackle box, a rod and reel and maybe a pair of waders, too and set out on a fishing adventure.

Since there are so many lakes in the state, you’ll have no trouble finding a spot to cast. Spring fishing in Minnesota is quite an experience and an adventure that you’ll surely enjoy.

Head to the Zoo

The Minnesota Zoo is a wonderful place to visit all year long, but it’s particularly exciting during the spring season. Why? There are actually a few reasons.

Firstly, the weather is perfect. You won’t have to deal with the scorching heat of summer and the blistering cold of winter, which certainly makes for a more enjoyable experience. Secondly, spring is the time of year when many species give birth to their young, so you’re bound to see some mamas and their babies.

Head over to the Wells Fargo Family Farm, which is situated right inside the zoo, and it’s almost guaranteed that you will catch a glimpse of oh-so sweet animal babies, such as kids, bunnies, chicks, and calves just to name a few. You might even have the chance to interact with some of these adorable creatures, but even if you don’t, simply seeing them is wonderful opportunity.

See the Flowers Bloom

The entire state of Minnesota becomes a vibrant landscape during the spring as various types of flowers are in bloom. There are tons of opportunities to see the breathtaking flora. Simply walk out of your door and there’s no doubt that you’re going to see beautiful flowers.

But, if you really want to experience the wonder of spring foliage, head to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, where the grounds are awash with colorful blooms, like tulips, roses, and even honeysuckle.

The Spring Flower Show at Cosmo Park Zoo and Conservatory also offers a great opportunity to see the beauty of nature. Here, you’ll see daffodils, crocuses, hyacinth, lilies, and even some hydrangea blooming during the spring season.

There’s so much for Minnesotans to see and do during the spring, and these three activities are just examples of some of the wonderful opportunities that abound during the season.
