Passing through Minneapolis or planning to move there? Here are the 3 excellent pizzas that you have to try.

Pizzeria Lola

The Forager

The Pizzeria Lola is located in Xerxes Avenue, and they’re a family oriented restaurant offering classic favorites and their own signature dishes that showcase their unique Korean-influenced taste. Their pizza dough is made right there, and it’s guaranteed to be fresh.

The Forager is a must-have taste experience if you like interesting variety. It contains several types of mushrooms and cheese in one dish. You can’t leave Minneapolis without trying this one if you like mushrooms.

If you are allergic to mushrooms or just prefer something else, that’s just fine. There are many more options to choose from, including Old Reliable (red sauce, mozzarella & pecorino) and the interestingly named My Sha-Roni (red sauce, mozzarella, natural-casing pepperoni & fennel sausage).

You can also opt for gluten-free bases on all of their pizzas except for the Sunshine. Many people call their gluten-free base one of the best there is!

An excellent pizza selection isn’t the only thing the Pizzeria Lola has to offer. They’ve also got a range of tasty starters for while you’re waiting for your pizza to arrive, including meatballs, roasted beets & peaches and a roasted cauliflower that’s to-die-for.

Like most restaurants in the area, they’re open from 11 a.m.

Black Sheep Coal-Fired Pizza

Fennel Sausage, Hot Salami, Onion & Cracked Green Olives

Black Sheep Coal-Fired Pizza has three locations across Minneapolis: North Loop, St. Paul and Eat Street. The pride of their business is creating quality pizza that has been fired the traditional way using only the highest quality ingredients and coal they can.

They’ve got a huge selection of starters on their menu to indulge in while you’re waiting for your pizza to arrive, including a spinach and blue cheese salad, oven roasted vegetables, classic meatballs or an eggplant dip.

But it’s the pizza that’s really made Black Sheep one of the pizza places you have to visit.

You can also add any of their listed ingredients to the pizza as an extra, including goat cheese, Persian beef, green peppers, bacon, Kalamata olives, or roasted red peppers if you’re chasing a specific taste and want to make the pizza your own.

A must try off their menu has to be the Fennel Sausage, Hot Salami, Onion & Cracked Green Olives. Why? Because sometimes the best pizzas are the simplest ones and because their sausage is perfectly made!

If you’re gluten intolerant, all of their 12-inch pizzas come with the option of a gluten-free base.

Pizza Luce

The Baked Potato Pizza

Pizza Luce has been in existence since 1993, and they have several locations across the states, including in Minneapolis, of course.

Their pizza selection is particularly unique, which is why you can’t leave Minneapolis without giving this one a try. One of the more popular choices is the Baked Potato pizza. Who doesn’t love pizza, baked potato and cheese separately? It is even better as a combination. You’ll love it!

Their starters are light and yet decadent enough at the same time. They offer artichoke dip, bruschetta, focaccia Katerina with goat cheese or vegan-friendly nuggets.

In Summary

While Minneapolis might not be known for its pizza the same way as New York City is, there sure are some good options to choose from. It’s not overly difficult finding a good pie. But, if you only have time to try one, deciding on which one to try is the hard part.
